1. What Is eSATA?

eSATA (External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is a connection standard for external storage devices, developed based on the traditional SATA interface. The letter "e" stands for External, indicating its ability to connect external storage devices such as HDDs, SSDs, docking stations, and specialized storage systems.

The eSATA standard was introduced in 2004 to meet the demand for high-speed data transfer between computers and external storage devices. Compared with SATA, which is used inside computers, eSATA features a more robust connector, better resistance to interference, and support for cable lengths of up to 2 meters, making installation and use more convenient.

Because it uses the same data transmission protocol as SATA, eSATA can utilize nearly the full performance of a hard drive or SSD without significant degradation during data transfer.

High Data Transfer Speeds
